Vargas Face and Skin at the 2013 Tempus Hair Restoration Seminar

Cosmetic procedures are always evolving, especially in the field of hair restoration surgery. New techniques are being developed. New standards for hair restoration success are being set. Earlier in October, Dr. Hannah Vargas and Clinical Supervisor Tiffany Buck visited Port Orange, Florida to take part in a week-long hair restoration seminar and continuing education course at the distinguished Tempus Hair Restoration practice. The opportunity afforded Vargas Face and Skin a first-hand look at new advancements and current research being done in the field of hair restoration surgery – as led by Dr. Marco Barusco, Founder and Medical Director of Tempus Hair Restoration.

Dr. Barusco is a uniquely-talented hair restoration specialist, and the week at Tempus Hair Restoration provided an opportunity to work alongside and learn from one of the most-innovative and talented doctors in the surgical hair restoration field.

A few of the many things Vargas Face and Skin took away from the seminar:

• How to more accurately diagnose male and female Androgenetic Alopecia (pattern baldness).
• When it’s beneficial to order genetic hair loss tests and how to interpret them.
• How to define treatment strategies for treating Androgenetic Alopecia.
• How to utilize specialists when treating patients diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia.
• How to determine if a patient is a candidate for surgical hair restoration.
• New hair restoration techniques, including Follicular Unit Transplantation and Extraction.
• An understanding of the “corrective” aspect of hair restoration surgery.
• Hair restoration for victims of trauma, burns, surgeries, or cancer treatments.

Much of what was learned at the week-long Tempus hair restoration seminar with Dr. Barusco was truly leading-edge, and a great benefit to our patients here at Vargas Face and Skin. And, although some of the language and terminology related to the field of hair restoration surgery may be unknown to many of our patients, we should say that each aspect of the seminar was based on tried and true hair restoration techniques.

As the seminar participants learned how to physically perform the various hair restoration procedures, Dr. Barusco was generous enough to explain the thinking, science, and methodology that went into each procedure. And, as Dr. Barusco is the Chairman of the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ASHRS) and Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), we were very pleased to have a chance to gain from his experience and innovative nature.
