Laser Resurfacing
As we age, the effects of sun damage and environmental pollutants take their toll on our skin, creating wrinkles and pigment irregularities, especially on our faces. A laser peel can be very successful at reducing or eliminating these conditions, and in fact it is the best way to address the problematic lines that occur around the mouth and eyes.
Micro Laser Peel
Micro laser peel is a non-invasive skin treatment that will abrade the skin and remove the dead and damaged skin cells of the upper-most layers of the skin. At the same time, micro laser peels assist in the production of new cells as collagen is being stimulated. Patients receive immediate improvement in skin tone, skin texture, and overall pigmentation.
The Benefits of Micro Laser Peel
The Vargas micro laser peel treatment in Kansas City is a safe procedure that makes use of a hand-held device to minimize wrinkles and even-out skin pigmentation – giving dull, lifeless and sun-damaged skin a radiant and healthy look. Micro laser peel, unlike laser skin resurfacing and some other exfoliation procedures, works on nearly all skin types and is an entirely safe procedure for treating and rejuvenating the skin. The common conditions benefitted by micro laser peel are:
- Acne blemishes
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and minor scars
- Sun and age spots
- Enlarged and clogged pores
- Blackheads and whiteheads
- Uneven skin tone or dull patches
- Stretch marks
What to Know About Micro Laser Peel
Each micro laser peel procedure is custom-tailored to your individual skin type and needs. During the in-office micro laser peel process, a thin layer of damaged surface skin will be removed, creating improved texture to the skin and a youthful appearance. The micro laser peel process can be used to rejuvenate skin on your face, neck, chest, arms and hands. The process takes about 45 minutes to complete and patients return home the same day and in most cases can return to work the next day. Full face laser patients should expect up to five to seven days downtime. Medications may be prescribed. To receive the best results, Dr. Vargas recommends that patients begin a pharmaceutical-grade skin care program to maintain their rejuvenated skin.
Nano Laser Peel
Nano Laser Peel removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed in-office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
The Benefits of Nano Laser Peel
In addition to being a fast, easy procedure that requires very little downtime, nano laser peel effectively treats:
- Mild wrinkles
- Scars
- Keratosis
- Sun damage
- Pigment irregularities
Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, you’ll notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in a couple of days. Nano laser peel is a great introduction into the many benefits of laser resurfacing.
What to Know About Nano Laser Peel
Immediately after the treatment you will notice that the skin has a “frosty” appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away over the next few days following the treatment. You may experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling sunburn, as well as mild swelling. Otherwise, you’ll experience soft, silky, youthful-looking skin in just a few days after the treatment!
ProFractional Laser Treatment
ProFractional Therapy is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving
the overall appearance of the skin in your face, neck, hands and chest. This in-office procedure can be customized to meet your specific skin conditions and goals.
What to Know About ProFractional Laser Treatment
ProFractional uses a small laser beam to directly treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. Subsequently, the surrounding untouched tissue begins a rapid healing process that prompts the production of new collagen, adding firmness and resilience to the skin.
Laser Resurfacing Q&A
Laser resurfacing is used to help with the tone and texture of the skin.
Yes, and it can seem overwhelming when searching for the perfect laser treatment. The resurfacings vary in two ways. First is the depth or amount of skin you are removing. The second is the method used to resurface the skin.
Full field resurfacing, similar to a peel, is where the entire area of skin is resurfaced. The other method is Profractional, where only a fraction of the skin is resurfaced.
The depth of skin being resurfaced is the difference in treatments. Nano is the lightest and Deep is the heaviest. It is best to consult with our team to decide which is best for you. Recommendations are based on the patient’s needs, downtime, and budget.
Ointment is placed over the treated area post procedure. Swelling and redness is normal post-procedure and can last from one to 14 days, depending on how aggressive treatment was. Discomfort and a sunburn-like sensation are normal following the procedure.
After the procedure it is best to use cold compresses to increase comfort. In some cases pain medication is given to aid in comfort post-procedure, but usually patients will opt for Tylenol. You will need to clean the area and reapply ointment until cleared for gentle cleanser and lotion.
Any procedure that addresses cosmetic needs is not usually covered by insurance. Special cases such as trauma may be reimbursable in part or whole. It is the patient’s responsibility for pre-approval of coverage and to process the claim for insurance.
